Take ownership of our green issues

"To be sustainable, green efforts need to start from the ground up. As much as the government has a role to play in environmental sustainability, Singaporeans should also own the issue and not think it is someone else’s responsibility."

Start small

"I started off by implementing simple changes in my life, such as adopting reusable food packaging and recycling. It may seem troublesome but it’s worth the effort in the long run."

Spread the word

"My fiancée has a keen interest in marine conservation. On our own initiative, we’ve gathered friends to go on beach clean-ups together. Our beaches may look pristine from afar, but we collected six full bags of rubbish on our first trip. Disposable food packaging made up the bulk of it."

Small steps, big difference

"We’ve also participated in cleaning up mangrove areas in kayaks, organised by the community centre. Through these steps, we hope to make a collective difference to Singapore’s environment."
